Since we have no bed for him yet (just the head and foot boards), we took the crib mattress out and laid it on the floor for him. We were expecting a really long night of him running around his room with the light on, playing with his toys and coming out every 5 minutes to ask for something, but I think he was scared. We told him he needed to lay down and that it was night night time and not to get up, and I honestly think he was too scared to. Scared we would know, scared to be so much lower to the ground than usual, scared of the new view above him, just scared.
At 2 a.m. he proved it. He woke us up with a serious cry and when Dario went in to check on him, the poor little guy was wondering all over his room in a confused and frightened mess. Luckily Dario was able to calm him down and convinced him that all of us sleep in beds without bars and that means that he is a big boy now. Dario got him some water and showed him that he could keep it right by his bed and take a drink from it whenever he wanted to. That really sealed the deal and he slept until 9:00 this morning.
He is doing so well, he's actually asleep for his nap this very minute. I know it's just the first day, and things can certainly change, but I'm so proud of him. I love that little boy so much!
