She's a week old today, and so beautiful my heart skips a beat whenever my eyes graze her face. The softness of her cheeks makes me melt and already fills me with sentiment knowing that this feeling, this stage, is so brief and will be over before I can memorize it and keep it locked up in my heart for safekeeping. The little noises, the faces that come and go so quickly while she dreams, the way her arms jerk into the air when you startle her, the way I can cup her entire head in my hand, the way she stares at me with that look of peace and love that I can only interpret as love she already feels for me.

I love this baby. My final, beautiful contribution to the human race. How I wish could have a tiny in my life all the time. To hold, to cuddle, to feel, to smell, to love. So I'll savor every moment while they are here and cry when they are gone, but at least I got to experience them, even if it can't be forever.
